Only the text you select is sent, over TLS, to turn it into audio; it is not stored. Reeda never needs a microphone and never sees your screen. Your account holds your email, your plan and a weekly word count, nothing else.

Download for MacReeda reads whatever you can select: browsers, email, Word, Notion, Slack, PDFs with a text layer, code editors, chat apps. It asks the app for the selection first and falls back to a quick copy-and-restore if the app doesn't answer, so your clipboard is untouched.

Fast mode uses Google Translate, Careful mode uses Claude for idiom and tone, and Offline mode runs a small model on your own computer so nothing is sent to a translation service. In the beta, the words light up inside the floating Read Bar, which sits next to whatever you selected. Highlighting drawn directly on the original page is in development for Pro. It works where apps expose text positions (browsers, Office, Apple's apps) and falls back to the bar everywhere else.
